Tallest Heights

Inspired by the drawn-on-film pieces by Norman Mclaren, Len Lye, and Man Ray, Becky & Joe collaborated with musician Delicate Steve to create the charming and beautiful “Tallest Heights.” The animation is made from a combination of ink, paint, bleach, and scratching into different film sizes. The final images are high-resolution scans of super 8, 16, and 35mm film strips and acetate sheets.

The Artwork Of Hong 'Red' Yi

Hong Yi, who goes by the nickname 'Red', is a Malaysian artist-architect. She was given the nickname because her name, Hong, sounds like the word 'red' in Mandarin. Red's grandparents and father left Shanghai in the '60s during the start of the Cultural Revolution and moved to Sabah, Malaysia where she was born and raised.

It's Nice That recently ran a post introducing the work of the artist André Bergamin. We were so impressed by André's beautifully coloured collages that we wanted to share them to. In discussing his creative process he stated: "What I usually do is to browse my magazines until I find something that I like or that gives me an idea. I scan this image and start thinking about the composition as I add other images. My process is basically to “kidnap” images from their original place and relate them with other displaced elements."

Sets For A Film I’ll Never Make

Melbourne-based artist Daniel Agdag creates unbelievably intricate cardboard sculptures of sets for films that he will never make. These structural experiments he refers to quite simply as "sketching with cardboard", a phrase that doesn't accurately represent the level of artistry and skill taken to produce such astounding pieces of work.

Salvador Dali Illustrates Alice In Wonderland

In 1969 seminal surrealist Salvador Dali drew a set of illustrations from Lewis Carroll's 'Alice In Wonderland'. These were later published by New York's Maecenas Press-Random House as 'their book of the month'.
