Wonderful London: Rough Trade East Screening–
Posted by Calum Sager on 4 July 2012–
Smoke: A London Peculiar, together with the BFI, are to launch 'Wonderful London' on DVD and Rough Trade East will be screening the film later this month. 'Wonderful London' is a 1920's travelogue about our capital city. Travelling from Chelsea to Hackney and taking in the familiar landmarks of London town - Buckingham Palace, the River Thames, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral, 'Wonderful London' also reveals the unknown nooks and crannies and parts of London rarely filmed; the poorer, over-populated districts of Clerkenwell and Whitechapel and the original Chinatown of Pennyfields in Limehouse. There are also rare glimpses of buildings we can no longer see on the ground. To compliment the screening on the night the soundtrack will be performed live by Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley.
The screening will take place on 18/07/2012, no wristbands are needed, for more information click
