Stones Throw: Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton Documentary

Posted by Calum Sager on 17 October 2012

Stones Throw are one of the few labels that continue to produce quality hip hop in a time when the genre is awash with generic gangsterisms and Euro dance style production. The label set up in 1996 by Peanut Butter Wolf has an eclectic output, not just focusing on the last guard of creative hip hop, instead they also offer up a string of off-key pop records and interesting reissues. The label boasts a catalog that includes J Dilla, Aloe Blacc, Madlib, James Pants and MF Doom as well as Peanut Butter Wolf's brilliant mix series. The label this week have announced the production of a new documentary, 'Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton.' “Drawing on live concert footage, never-before-seen archival material, inner-circle home video and photographs and in-depth interviews with the folks who put Stones Throw on the map.” 'Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton' is still in production, and requires further funding for its completion to cover production trips, shoots and editing. Director Jeff Broadway has launched a Kickstarter campaign with the aim of completing the project. You can watch the trailer below.
