Rich Machin of Soulsavers has curated a playlist exclusively for us. Here are a few words he had to say about his selections :
"This playlist is a bit of a muddle of two sitting on my ipod at the moment.
What can i say about it, it's been the soundtrack to me slowly working my way through a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle's 20yr old Family Reserve the last few weeks.
The Pisces tune is one that sat on the shelf unreleased in a warehouse for 40yrs before finally seeing the light of day in 2009.
When you think of the crap that ben released through the 70s, 80s & 90s while that sat untouched, it's quite disturbing.
The Howlin' Wolf tune is from his 69' The Howlin Wolf Album, where he re-recorded a bunch of his old back catalogue for Cadet Concept in a electric - psychedelic style.
He hated it, but i think it's the best record of his career (& i love 'em all).
Lanegan turned me onto the Link Wray tune about 5yrs ago. I had all the classic early period stuff, but he put out three albums for Polydor in the early 70s that are really different to what i knew, quite a Stones vibe to them. Just as amazing as the early stuff, but a totally different kind of amazing.
The Porter Wagoner track is one i've been meaning to cover for a couple of years, i really need to get around to it... A trippy country tune about losing your mind.
I could ramble on about the rest of these tracks, but they speak for themselves really.
Hope you enjoy a few of 'em."
Soulsavers new album 'The Light The Dead See' is out now.
