– Here is another vintage video from the vaults, this one features the late, great, Karen Dalton. Despite her talent, Dalton remained largely unknown throughout her carrer but is now considered one of the great lost voices of the New York's Greenwich Village folk scene in the 1960s. Regularly playing alongside the likes of Bob Dylan, Fred Neil and Richard Tucker and more recently championed by the likes of Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart and Nick Cave who labelled her his "favourite female blues singer", Dalton was unquestionably a special talent. Theories behind Dalton's hindered success during her era largely revolve around her tendency to drink heavily and indulge in drugs. Another theory is that she only played cover versions in an era that belonged to singer- songwriters. She was uncomfortable performing live and hated recording, allegedly 'It's So Hard To Tell You Who's Going To Love You Best' was only recorded because Fred Neil fooled her into believing the tape wasn't rolling. A sensitive soul, whose unhappiness was largely caused by the failure of her marriage and her later estrangement from her children, Dalton ended up living on the streets of New York City and tragically died in unclear circumstances in 1993. Here she is performing a heart wrenching version of 'It Hurts Me Too'. Enjoy!
